Van Cortlandt TC Flats Mile and Kids 800 meter

For the third year, Van Cortlandt Track Club is proud to present the VCTC Flats Mile!

Held this year on the last day of New York City Public School, we are providing a festive atmosphere for the start of Summer with fun for the whole family!

Kids races kick off the event at 6:10pm, followed by 4 heats of the 1-mile every twenty minutes at 6:30pm for Masters Women (40+), 6:50pm Masters Men (40+), 7:10pm Open Women (10+) and 7:30pm (Open Men (10+) respectively.

Race registration and check-in will take place at the Tortoise and Hare Statue across from Lloyd’s Carrot Cake at 6117-6131 Broadway, Bronx starting at 5:30pm and ending at 6:25pm before the first Mile heat.

Mile races will Start from the Van Cortlandt House Museum at the South end of the Parade Grounds (The Flats) and finish at the Pete McArdle Finish Line by the Tortoise and Hare Statue.

Run the historic Van Cortlandt historic 5K cross country course for carrot cake prizes every other Thursday at 7pm, starting on 5/23.

The race on July 4th is a two person relay, with two mile legs over Cemetery Hill.

Special pricing of $25 and a giveaway if you sign up for all six individual races not including the relay. Each individual race is $5 in advance or $8 day of.

Thursday, June 20th – Supporting The Breathe Project
Thursday, July 4th – 2 x 2M relay (2 person teams only) – Supporting Special Olympics Bronx Chapter

Thursday, August 15th – Supporting TBA

Bib pick up and day-of race registrations are held at the Tortoise and the Hare on Broadway in front of Lloyd’s Carrot Cake at 6087 Broadway, Bronx, NY 10471. Take the subway to the end of the 1 train at 242nd Street and walk 500 yards.

Free parking is available at the Van Cortlandt Golf House parking lot – a short walk from the Tortoise and Hare.

For the love of running in all seasons, get a partner and take on the Tough Love race in Van Cortlandt Park, over the 2-mile Cemetery Hill route. As in love, in case of extreme weather, the event may be canceled. Race director Carolyn Hehir.

Urban Environmental Challenge 10K and 6K trail race and Kids’ Race

Prepare for a rugged, technical off trail race in historic Van Cortlandt Park in the heart of the Bronx. We have added a 6K option, which will be just the first loop of the race and then back to the start at the Tortoise and the Hare. In the case of inclement weather, the race goes on! Student discount. 10th Annual Healthy Minds/Healthy Bodies 5K Run/Walk

Run or walk to raise awareness and support mental health! All proceeds of the 5K go to Mosaic Mental Health, whose mission is to serve families and individuals from all walks of life, to improve the lives of those with mental health difficulties, substance dependency, and other isolating conditions, and to improve the quality of life in all the communities we serve.

In honor of Global Running Day run a hard, fast, flat mile around the Parade Grounds of Van Cortlandt Park.  Race Director: Bobby Asher.
