Time to sign up for the bus to the Brooklyn Half 2022!

We have two school buses taking us to the start and picking us up at the finish!

Date: Saturday, May 21, 2022

Departure from the Bronx
Time: 4:45 check-in for a 5:00 am PROMPT departure
Place: Handball Courts (Broadway just south of 242nd street subway, park side)
Cost (one way or round trip): VCTC Members: $25.00, Nonmembers: $30.00
Specific drop-off in Brooklyn will be determined closer to race day once NYRR communicates details

Return from Coney Island
Time: 12:00 and 1:00 pm*
Place:  21st street and Surf
This is around the corner from the Steeple Chase Beer Garden (former Peggy O’Neils), 1904 Surf Street, our traditional VCTC Coney Island post-race gathering place where many of us will hang out prior to heading to the buses!

* We may modify departure times from Coney Island, weather-depending and general consensus.  That decision will be made closer to race day and announced prior to departure from the Bronx

FAQ:

May I pay on the bus?
No payments on the bus please. This is the only way we can get an accurate count ahead of time, plus we do not want to have to deal with cash on race day.

Why do we leave so early?
To avoid bad traffic and congestion at security, baggage check, at the start, and to make sure Wave 1 runners get there on time, we have found this early departure time works best.

May I leave my stuff on the bus?
Yes, you may, but the buses are a bit of a walk from the finish line at Coney Island, and if you want dry/warm clothes right after you finish, you may want to check a bag.

Can I take the bus one way only?
Yes, you may–same price either way.
